Hiding Money from Your Spouse : Survival or Betrayal

My Southern Grandmother used to call it "penny money." She told me that a woman always needs to keep some money of her own. Just "in case of emergencies", wink...wink.

Then, it was a culture in which women had very little power (money). The craftiness of having a secret stash was a form of survival.

Through the lens of today, we have to question if having a stash is a form of survival or a form of betrayal.
